The Coupon Encounter

Posted at 05:25 PM on January 18, 2009

Well, you'll  love this story!  I had an opportunity to catch up with some of my friends from grade school this past weekend.  Finding time to reconnect in our lives is very important.  It was one of the best weekends I can remember.

In the course of our catch up, we started talking about soaring prices.  "Milk is $3.79 and we are constantly running out."  So I started telling them how they could cut their bills in half.  Since we were laughing and giggling already anyway, they decided to challenge ALC and our website.

"How about Spaghetti Sauce, I bet they dont' do coupons for that, it's inexpensive anyway," says one gal.  I pulled out a Ragu.  "Bread, they never get bread, " says the other, I had just gotten the Sara Lee $1 off that they sent all members from October.  This went on for several minutes, Colgate toothpaste, Sunmaid Raisins, Frito Lay, etc.  Finally,  they both decided that next week we are not getting together for dinner-but going grocery shopping.  It was nice to see what NON coupon folks think, and which coupons they were looking to find.

So our great shop off is on!  We are headed out to shop together and I can share with them how to save money on their groceries.  Both my friends are happy, and I must say, I was a bit proud to be able to offer up some good advice! IT was a great time, and I learned a little as well.
